Tanna Farms Naturally Organic Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
First up, our Tanna Farms Naturally Organic Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – we know that’s a mouthful, but once you’ve tried our delicious oil, its name will surely trip off your tongue. It’s handmade with love from coconuts from Tanna Island, Vanuatu, which grow on family farms in volcanic soil at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.
Here coconuts play an integral part of everyday life, with the white flesh eaten, the coconut water drunk, the husks burned and the fronds of the tree used in thatch roofing. Now, with Tanna Farms, the farmers are also able to make money from their trees, enabling them to send their children to school and to access health care.
They send their excess coconuts to our small factory in Lenakel. And once we get our hands on them we really don’t take them off again, as we grate flesh, press the oil, then package it up in glass – all by hand. We press our oil using the Kokonut Pacific DME Process . That means no chemicals are used in the manufacturing process and the coconut oil in our jars is the way nature intended – all natural. That’s not the case with every oil on the market, so it’s worth checking out some of the finer details of making coconut oil.
Vanuatu is the closest Pacific Island to New Zealand and Australia, so our coconut oil crosses a ditch, not an ocean, to get to your kitchen. Once it’s there, use it in baking, smoothies and everyday cooking or try a few of our beauty treatments, like a face scrub, makeup remover and luxurious moisturiser.
